Blanefield keep clean sheet

- Forth and Endrick

All games scheduled for Saturday were cancelled as a mark of respect for Donnie Beaton, the Forth and Endrick League secretary who died after a short illness.

Only three of the fixtures went ahead on Tuesday and there was an unusually subdued atmosphere about all of them.

Blanefield were the visitors at Gartocharn and the match was virtually over by half-time when Thistle had already taken a three goal lead. The expected fightback by Gartocharn did not materialise and Blanefield have still to drop a point or lose a goal.

The goals were also all scored in the first half at Gargunnock, where Buchlyvie provided the opposition. The first went to the visitors in the opening minutes but Stuart Hansom equalised with a tremendous daisy-cutter which even David Hegarty could not reach.

The home side took the lead when Andy Bailey scored from the penalty spot and before the break Buchlyvie’s misery was compounded when a defender turned the ball into his own goal. That gave Gargunnock a 3-1 lead which they held on to all through the second half.

Aberfoyle visited Kippen, looking for their first win of the season, but the Rob Roy went home empty-handed. Kippen retained their unbeaten record with a 3-2 win.

Drymen Utd v Deanston and Thornhill v Killearn were postponed.

Fixtures: Saturday- Balfron Rovers v Kippen; Deanston v Gartocharn; Drymen Utd v Thornhill.

Tuesday – Aberfoyle Rob Roy v Blanefield Thistle; Balfron Rovers v Buchlyvie Utd; Killearn v Deanston; Kippen v Drymen Utd; Thornhill v Gargunnock.
