Kippen fayre will be streets ahead

-

This year’s Kippen Street Fayre, on Saturday June 10, is shaping up to be one of the biggest and best yet.

As well as a wide range of stalls lining the main street you can look forward to parades, entertainment, a fun dog show, demonstrations and tastings.

And this year’s king and queen - Chloe Watt and Ryan Hawick - are preparing their regal waves for the occasion.

One of the highlights of the day is always the fancy dress parade and competition, which has so often in the past seen some highly imaginative entries. This year’s theme is Scottish Historical Characters (real and mythical), tying in with VisitScotland’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology.

This year many new organisations and local businesses are taking part and there will be great raffle prizes, including £100 in cash plus donations from the likes of One Allan Park Wellbeing Clinic, McQueen Gin, Old Leckie Farm, Blairdrummond Safari Park and Rhubarb Lime Deli, with tickets on sale throughout the day.

There will also be lots to see and do - not to mention eat and drink, with local eateries open, a number of stalls, as well as a pop up cafe in the Reading Rooms. There will even be a gin tent as June 10 is also International Gin Day.

There is already some great shopping lined up with everything from bespoke jewellery, designer cards and prints to fabulous textile sculptures and gifts.

The Street Fayre opens at 10am and there will be events throughout the day until 4pm.

Street Fayre committee member Elsbeth Campbell said:“While this is definitely one of the main events in the Kippen calendar we would love to welcome visitors from the surrounding villages and further afield. So please save the date in your diary and tell your friends and family.

“Entries for the fancy dress parade are always welcome and we are looking forward to seeing some inventive costumes as usual.”

There will also be a fun dog show with classes including handsomest hound dog, prettiest bitch, waggiest tail, fun agility and best young handler (aged 12 and under).

The Street Fayre is also running a pet photo competition. Owners should print a picture of their pet, with their contact details and a few words about why their pet should win on the back, and hand it into Kippen Village Shop with a £1 entry fee between now and the day of the street fayre. The photos will be displayed in the Reading Rooms and the prize is two tickets for Blairdrummond Safari Park.
