A Bridge of Allan woman has been honoured for her 50 years with the Girl Guides.

Girlguiding Forth Valley volunteer Audrey Brown, leader of 3rd Bridge of Allan Guides, was presented with a specially-designed brooch in honour of her inspirational efforts and service.

Audrey has held the positions of district commissioner, division commissioner plus county and Scottish roles.

She has been involved with units in West Lanarkshire and Edinburgh and has been leader with 3rd Bridge of Allan guides since 1981.

Audrey said: “I’m extremely proud to receive this award. Volunteering for Girlguiding Scotland is such a rewarding experience and it’s been wonderful to work with so many young women and girls over the years and see them gain new skills, grow in confidence and have fun.

“Volunteering has opened up so many fantastic opportunities for girls to enjoy new experiences, use their voice and be a powerful force for good in their communities.

“I’d like to dedicate this award to all of the girls I have had the pleasure of knowing over the last 50 years.”

Girlguiding Forth Valley County Commissioner, Margaret Kerr added: “I want to say a huge thank you to Audrey. She has helped hundreds of girls to enjoy new experiences, make great friends and discover their potential. She has endless energy and enthusiasm and is committed to helping each girl to find her voice.”

Audrey was presented with the award at a recent ‘thanks and recognition’ ceremony in Dunblane.
