“As I write, the UK is responding to its second terrorist attack in less than two weeks. Regardless of your interest in politics, or indeed your political affiliations, I very much hope that you will vote on Thursday - we are lucky to live in a democracy where we can exercise that right, and we must continue to do so.

I also hope that you will consider the Scottish Liberal Democrats. In this snap General Election, we have a clear message. We are now the only party that supports both Scotland in the UK, and the UK at the heart of Europe. We stand with the majority of people in Scotland who voted in both recent referendums.

We are committed to investing in education and ensuring that physical and mental health are treated and funded fairly. We will oppose another divisive Scottish independence referendum. The focus needs to be on preventing Theresa May and the Conservatives extreme form of Brexit that threatens our economy, jobs, and industries such as tourism, so important to the Stirling area. The Stirling City Deal presents us with a number of opportunities, but we must ensure that it is implemented in a way that works for all of Stirling.

We need to make sure that EU nationals currently living in the UK are guaranteed the right to remain, and support our Higher Education sector to ensure that funding and mobility of both students and staff are maintained. We support the retention of the pension triple lock, ending the 1 per cent public sector pay cap, reinstate housing benefits for 18 to 21 year olds, and end the two child rule that has resulted in the abhorrent‘rape clause’.

If elected, I will work hard to represent Stirling and its communities, and I believe I have a breadth of experience that will allow me to be an effective Member of Parliament for the constituency.“
