Chance to be part of Artbeat

- Various venues

Organisers of an arts festival have been finding creative ways of drawing attention to its forthcoming events.

Artbeat Open Studios will see artists open up their Stirling area homes for free to visitors from June 10 to18.

And Sam Green, of the Made in Stirling shop, took to the streets of the city to spread the word to the public.

Sam works for Creative Stirling and this year for the first time the shop, which sells the work of artists and makers, are taking part.

“We are doing our best to encourage people who have never met an artist to visit some in their studios and also take part in some of the Artbeat events,” said Sam.“These include making your own designer tote bag in the Made in Stirling shop, painting demos in the Tolbooth, along with weaving and jewellery workshops.”

Artbeat has built on the success of several years of Forth Valley Open Studios.

Visitors will have a chance to sample a wide variety of workshops from a taster session with Lesley McDermott in the Cowane Centre, hand loom weaving workshop with Justine Bainbridge, marbling with Christine McIver and a jewellery demo and workshop by Jo Pudelko.

New this year is an open-air exhibition on Flanders Moss based on the board walkaway, which has been turned into an outdoor exhibition centre.

Over in Falkirk, meanwhile, Lesley Banks, artist in residence with Scottish Canals, will be showing her work in Callendar House.

Forth Valley Artbeat will run from June 10-18.
