Riverside put on a good show for new manager Grant Stobbart on Saturday in a friendly win over Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.
Having lost on the last four occasions against Rob Roy, this game was always going to be a good test and it gave the boys a chance to stake a place for next season under the new boss.
Early exchanges were even but on 24 minutes after great play and cross from Gary Laird, Harry Thomson looped his header over the helpless away keeper to give Riverside the lead.
Kirkintilloch however refused to buckle and managed to draw level on 31 minutes when excellent individual skill saw their forward equalise.
Riverside immediately hit back when Adam Sharp bulleted home a free kick from 25 yards for his 29th goal of the season.
The second half was similar to the first until the away team scored a replica to their first but with the game looking like ending a draw, Laird drove down the right, stepped back inside and crossed the ball over to Kobe Furzer who nodded home from four yards to secure a first ever win over Kirkintilloch.
Budget Auto Centre man of the match goes to Harry Thomson who also turned 16 on Saturday.
Riverside held their end of season presentation night last Thursday. With the club celebrating its 10th season, long service awards went to Ryan Morrison and Harry Thomson, joint top goal scorers were Garry Laird and Adam Sharp. Players’ Player of the Year was Lewis Morrow and Player of the Year went to Jordan White.
