Stirling FC’s family day out

- Kaiya Marjoribanks

Community festival Binos Live will be teeming with football activities and entertainment for all the family later this month.

The event, at Stirling Albion FC at Stirling Sports Village on Sunday 25 June 11am-6pm, will include a mascot race, adult five-aside tournament, football games featuring Stirling Albion Junior Academy (SAJA), skills challenges and street football.

There will also be a demonstration of over 50s walking football with opportunities to try it out.

There will also be opportunities to find out more about becoming involved in the club and a chance to meet some of the first team players and management.

The first 200 children through the gate will also receive their own free Bino Bear as a memento and visitors can take part in a fun game of human table football, football darts and bubble football.

Andrew Todd, Albion’s community engagement manager, said: “Stirling Albion are passionate about our ever expanding community programme, motivating people of all ages to get involved in football and encouraging the next generation of supporters.

We are looking forward to presenting a range of footballing activities for adults and children and welcoming the community along to our family friendly club.”

Fair Trade Stirling have donated 12 Fair Trade footballs for the SAJA matches. Coordinator Jon Cape said: “It is great the footballs will be used in children’s events because Fair Trade is helping to end child labour in the manufacturer of footballs. In Pakistan, where most footballs are made, kids from as young as five have been working up to 11 hours a day hand-stitching balls.

Where that problem is put right, family income can fall making it hard to afford to get kids to school. The Fair Trade premium has been helping provide access to education for workers’ families as well providing basics in poor villages like clean water.”

Stirling Albion FC, local fundraising group The Scribbler’s Picnic and Prudential UK & Europe have collaborated to create Binos Live. Alongside football, Scribbler’s Picnic will be hosting two stages of live music, a food village, stalls and kid’s activities.

Binos Live is entirely non-profit making and funds raised will be donated between cancer related charities (as per the ethos of previous Scribbler’s Picnic events) and the Stirling Albion Junior Academy.

Tickets from www. binoslive.co.uk priced: family £10 (2 adults 2 children)/ individual ticket £5/under 5s free. Tickets on the gate cost: family £20 (2 adults 2 children) /adult ticket £10/U16s £5/U5s free.
