One school will have a major shake -up this summer as four of its staff members retire.

Cowie Primary will bid farewell to headteacher Vivienne Innes, depute head Anne McClure and class teachers Christine Armitage and Yvonne Young who step down on Friday.

Mrs McClure, from Dunblane, has been teaching for 38 years. She started in Abercrombie Primary School in Clackmannanshire in 1978. She has been at Cowie Primary School for the past 13 years.

Mrs Armitage, from Dunblane, has been a teacher for 28 years, starting at Menstrie Primary in 1979. She has worked as a teacher in Stirling, Clackmannanshire, the Borders and Argyll and Bute and has been a teacher at Cowie Primary for 14 years.

Mrs Young, from Falkirk, has spent 26 years working as a teacher. She started in Westquarter Primary School, Falkirk in 1978 and worked for both Falkirk Council and Stirling Council and has been at Cowie Primary School for 18 years.

Mrs Innes (55) said:“It’ll be a sad day for us. I would just like to say that Cowie has a really strong community and that have been fantastic during my time at the school.”

She added:“I’m off to Canada in September.“I’m not sure what the others have planned for their time off , but we’ll all be able to take holidays during term time now, which will be strange. I’m going to the Rocky Mountains for some peace and quiet.”

Parents of pupils at the school needn’t worry about replacement staff being in place for the start of next term.

Mrs Innes said :”New staff have already been lined up and have been to the school to meet staff already.”
