Big Noise Raploch unveiled their first ever symphony orchestra at a special concert held at the weekend.

More than 100 children performed to a packed audience at the group’s ninth birthday celebrations at the Albert Halls on Saturday.

The new orchestra brings together the strings, woodwind, brass and percussion players.

The singing group also performed during the celebratory show.

Vicky Williams, team leader at Big Noise Raploch, was delighted with the performance.

She said:“Our ninth birthday concert was fantastic. It was incredible to hear the Raploch Symphony Orchestra play for the first time. We are very proud of what the children have achieved.”

Each week the group, which is run by the charity Sistema Scotland and has been operating since 2008, welcomes 470 youngsters to locations around the Stirling area for free musical tuition.

And they are inviting young musicians aged from six to 18 along to their fourth annual summer school which runs from July 17 to July 20 at Raploch Community Campus.

Vicky added:“We have a very busy summer programme. Not only do we have our summer club for children from right across the Stirling area, but Raploch Symphony Orchestra will be going on a residential trip to Lochranza on the island of Arran where they will play a public concert on Tuesday July 25.”
