Cemetery land gift and new houses move scrutinised

Strathblane Community Council are seeking feedback on a proposal to bring new homes to the village.

The Observer reported earlier this month how developer Gladman proposed to ‘gift’ land for a new cemetery in Strathblane as part of the controversial housing development.

The firm submitted an application to Stirling Council planners for a residential development of up to 70 homes plus a cemetery at land 160 metres south of Broadgate House off Campsie Road.

Now, Strathblane Community Council have launched an online survey to gather public opinion on the proposal.

The questionnaire also seeks input on the types of new housing that may actually be needed there.

Community councilliors are also arranging drop-in sessions at the Village Club.

The first was on Wednesday and the second will be on July 24 from 2.30pm until 8.30pm.

There will also be a special community council meeting to discuss the issue on July 31 at 7.30pm in the Village Club.

All surveys must be completed and returned by July 26.
