Inspectors praise school

-

A Wee County school has received a positive inspection.

Tillicoultry Primary and Nursery School has been praised for having well-behaved and motivated children, however must continue to focus on raising attainment.

A team of inspectors visited the school in April, and talked to parents, carers and young people.

The inspectors evaluated the school and nursery as ‘good’ in all aspects: leadership of change, learning, teaching and assessment, raising attainment and achievement and ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion.

Strengths identified include the headteacher’s effective approach to school improvement, staff focusing on improving the health and wellbeing of children across the school and personalised opportunities being provided which are extending children’s skills.

Areas for improvement were identified and discussed with staff including ensuring remits of promoted staff focused on raising attainment, developing simpler approaches to assessment, sharing good practice in learning and teaching and continuing to raise attainment.

Councillor Les Sharp, leader of Clackmannanshire Council, said: “I am pleased to see this positive report for Tillicoultry Primary School and Nursery. Well done to the staff, parents and wider community who work hard to ensure that our young people have the chance to learn well.

“I know that everyone will be working hard to ensure that progress is made in the areas for improvement.”
