Crackdown onsummer violence

-

A three-month campaign to crackdown on summer violence was launched by police this week.

The Scotland-wide Safe Summer initiative will aim to tackle alcoholrelated violence, offensive weapons and disorder and anti-social behaviour.

Officers in Stirling will be proactively targeting areas where they are concerned such activity may occur.

Police say they are also aiming to reduce public-space violence, disorder and anti-social behaviour through effective deployment of resources, prevention techniques, enforcement operations and education and awareness activity.

Stirling Area Commander, Chief Inspector Lynn Ratcliff, said: “Officers in Stirlingshire will be supporting the Police Scotland ‘Safe Summer’ campaign.

“They will be focusing on a number of areas including alcoholrelated offences such as street drinking and disorder and carrying out additional, high-visibility patrols at locations where there have been previous reports of disorder.

“Our objective is to reduce even further the instances of anti-social behaviour and violence in Stirling. We will continue to work closely with partners in the licensed trade and at Stirling Council to help prevent violence and serious crime happening in the first place.

“By working together, we aim to ensure that those living and working in the local area and the thousands of visitors we will welcome to Stirlingshire over the coming months have a happy and safe summer.”
