Double thrill as Strange Behaviour splits in two

-

Strange Behaviours has an exciting array of bands lined up this summer.

Split into two separate dates throughout the year for 2017, the annual Strange Behaviours Festival has been refreshed as two stand-alone mini-festival days – the first of which will take place on Saturday July 8 at the Tolbooth.

There will be multiple stages featuring the most innovative, fun, thrilling, livingbreathingtouring-eating- recordingpartyingwriting-sleeping- DIY bands from across Scotland and Stirling. The lineup includes: PAWS (alt, punk), Loki (hip hop), Spinning Coin (indie), Graham Costello’s Strata (jazz/post-rock), Passion Pusher (garage), Canal Capitale (math rock), Quick (Americana, folk) and some secret performances.

In the run up to the festival, we are featuring some of the bands taking part, and this week we have a preview of Scots lyricist Loki and a Q&A with Graham Costello from Strata.

Darren ‘Loki’ McGarvey is an artist with many strings to his bow. A multi-skilled, eloquent voice on modern Scotland’s sociopolitical landscape, his work as a rapper, community arts leader, public speaker and journalist has placed him in front of TV cameras, public meetings and music industry showcase audiences.

Loki is one of the headliners for the upcoming Strange Behaviours Festival, which has been refreshed as two standalone mini-festival days – the first taking place on Saturday July 8 at The Tolbooth.

With 18 albums under his belt, Loki has not long released his most recent body of work – the first half of a double-album swansong to be completed later this year: ‘Trigger Warning’.

The album is described as a breathtakingly ambitious project which presents a range of character explorations in his performance, challenging or ‘triggering’ a reaction in an attempt to provoke discussion on various sociopolitical subjects.

Tickets for the Strange Behaviours Festival are on sale now from culturestirling. org or by calling 01786274000.
