Thursday, June 22: Caley Marts sold 121 cattle comprising 81 prime bullocks heifers and six young bulls, 34 cast cows and bulls. Prime bullocks averaged 220p pkg; prime heifers 226p pkg; young bulls 198p pkg; beef cows 133p; dairy cows 106p. Bullocks sold to 245p pkg for a Limousin from D Dickinson, Brockwoodl­ees, Cononbie to T Johnston, Butchers, Falkirk and to a massive £1768 gross (away ahead of any deadweight centre) for a Charolais from C Smith, South Flanders, Kippen to Malcolm Allan and Sons. Heifers sold to 250p pkg for a Limousin from A S Hay, Mains of Cultmalund­ie, Tibbermore to D Campbell, Butchers, Callendar and again to ‘a massive’ gross price of £1716 from J Brown, Greencraig, Falkirk to Border Meats, Lockerbie. Young bulls sold to 215p pkg for a Limousin from W Brisbane and Son, South Woodlane, Blairdrumm­ond to Charles Kirkpatric­k. Bulls averaged £588, selling to £1080 for a Simmental from Kincaple Farms, Kincaple, St Andrews. Black and whites averaged £715 selling to £780 from D T Marshall, West Kirkland, Newton Stewart. Spring lambs (500) sold to £124 from D&J McKerrow, Nochnary, Freuchie for a 58kg Texel. Overall average £94.59 (+2.50 on the week). Top price per kilo went to John Messenger, Ayton, Abernethy at 264ppkg for a pair of 42 kilo Texels. Overall average 223.2ppkg (-4.5p on the week).
