Lake of Menteith Areas that are doing well are Cage Bay, Malling Shore, Heronry into Sandy Bay and Shear Point round to Internatio­nal Bay.

Owls and Double Deckers and CDCs are doing well, also Diawl Bachs, Cormorants and Mini Boobies are doing fine in a midge tip or intermedia­te.

Last Wednesday the Boat League was void due to thunder and lightning.

On Saturday in heat 8 of the Scottish Club Championsh­ips most of the boats headed for the top end of the lake, looking for some shelter.

The best results proved to be a variation of methods and tactics from dries to nymphs fished on floaters, midge tips and fast glass lines. The top three teams qualifying for the first semi-final on August 25 are: 1 Lintrathen FF A (19 fish for 40lb 3.0oz); 2 Kelso AA A (14 for 33lb 7.1oz); 3 Saltire AC (14 for 30lb 12.2oz). The top five anglers going through to the Champion of Champions are: 1 Kevin Neri (11 for 23lb 2.6oz); 2 Ronnie Glass (six for 13lb 8.2oz); 3 Chris Harkes (six fish for 13lb 0.7oz); 4 Barry Lennon (six for 12lb 10.6oz); 5 Gus Shepherd (six for 12lb 10.4oz).

The best fish of the night fell to Colin MacDonald with a 4lb 4.4oz rainbow.

Other notable catches include Retired Police (17 boats - 15 fish for 46lb and 97 returned); Mr McLean (20 fish all returned); Cormorants Club (Lake Youths) (31 fish all returned); Mr McGregor from Doune (nine returned) Mr Ramage/Mr Ronald (12 returned). Frandy Local anglers included Bob Smith (Stirling) three for 6lb; Alan Graham and Alan Armstrong (Dollar) eight for 16lb and 10 released; Bob Oliver and Murray Falconer (Doune) seven for 16lb 8oz.

Cleveland Police Fly Fishers kept 23 fish weighing 45lb 6oz; Perthshire FFC 18 for 41lb 8oz; Auchenhowi­e AC six for 16lb 6oz; Grangemout­h Railway AC released nine; St Mungo AC 12 for 25lb 8oz and five released and Milngavie AC 11 for 22lb and 16 released.

The best flies last week included the Orange Fab, Pearly Invicta, Clan Chief, Orange Blob, Sedge Muddlers, Daddy Longlegs, Bibio Hoppers, Kate McLaren, Sedgehogs and Snatchers, while all areas of the loch continue to fish well. Orchill Last week there was a rise in the temperatur­e of the water, making the fish fussy, so lures with long tails were doing well along with Nymphs and Buzzers. Last Sunday Killin FFC l had 27 fish for 76lbs 4oz with Angus Inglis having four for 14lbs 4oz on a Diawl Bach.

Alexanders FFC took 34 fish for 100lbs with M Strang taking the heaviest basket with four for 13lbs 8oz on Buzzers, Dries and Lures.

Other catches: Kenny Low (Stirling) two for 7lbs on Black Buzzers; Tony Hingley (Alloa) three for 14lbs on a Yellow Dancer; Richard Kerr (Fallin) three for 8lbs 8oz; Hamish Carmichael (Alloa) two for 7lbs 8oz on a Cut Throat Cat and Willie Martin (Stirling) four for 11lbs on Buzzers. Swanswater A week of changeable weather saw anglers having to compete with some demanding fishing conditions.

Traditiona­l wets, especially Bibio, have had good success throughout the week.

A large number of browns were giving anglers some great sport with the majority being caught around the bridge area.

Top local catches: Nan Morrison (Stirling) four for 12lb including a brown; Danny Doherty (Denny) four for 12lb including a 3lb 12oz brown; Robert Rickets (Stirling) five released including three browns. Glenbervie Really windy most of the week but still warm. Most of trout been caught on the top.

Top catches: David Ford has 12 on Yellow Owl and Diawl Bach; Jordan Anderson and John Darroch eight; Ally Bruce and A Maskomsky six; Brian Manson, Kenny Hunter, Robbie Leitch and Arnold Herbert five; Frank Turner, Robert Smith and Frank Barr four; Kevin Fyall, Brian Harper and Tom Anderson managed three. Best patterns on fly have been Yellow Owl, Ally McCoist, Spiders, various Buzzers and Diawl Bach.

On bait: John Lawrie five for 11lb 8z; Kenny Craig had three for 8lb; John Malloy caught three for 6lb 10oz; J Brinkins had three for 6lb 14oz; Ed Rose landed three for 9lb 4oz.
