District league final for former winners
Bannockburn and Spittalmyre to fight it out
Bannockburn and Spittalmyre bowlers will face each other at the Dunblane green in Friday’s Stirling District League final.
That was the outcome of last week’s hard fought semi-finals at Airthrey Spa with Bannockburn carding a 12-shot victory over Borestone while Spittalmyre saw off Causewayhead by 11 shots.
Both finalists are former winners with Spittalmyre’s only success coming back in 2008 while one has to go back to the last millennium for Bannockburn’s solitary win in 1993.
Scores from the semi-finals were: Bannockburn v Borestone (B’burn first): Dick Kennedy 21-8 Willie Black; Liam Kelly 12-13 Kevan Frogley. Totals: Bannockburn 2 (33), Borestone 2 (21). Spittalmyre v Causewayhead (S’myre first): D Stewart 26-12 Brem Morrison; Fraser Gray 16-19 Jason Williams. Totals: Spittalmyre 2 (42), Causewayhead 2 (31). County finals The championship finals of Stirling County Bowling Association are on Saturday at the Burnhead green.
