Music and muscles join up at annual gathering

Village event has Highland heavies plus ukulele band

-

The annual Kinlochard Gathering takes place this weekend.

The village has a whole host of Highland and family events planned for the show, which takes place on Sunday (July 16).

Organiser Simon Miller said that the committee were hopeful of some sunshine to help increase crowds at the gathering.

“The organisation is going well,” he told the Observer. “We are hoping that early forecasts are right and that it is not going to rain.

“The committee and our Chieftain Margaret Luke are looking forward to a great day and are all very excited. Margaret is a long-term resident of Kinlochard and she will be opening the games this year.

“We have lots of exciting things going on this year.”

Shuttle buses will run from the car park in Aberfoyle from 11.15am to the games field. There will be a procession – led by pipers – from Forest Hills to the Village Hall at 11.30am, with the gates opening at noon.

Visitors are invited to bring their dogs along to take part in a dog show at 1pm. There will be a piping competition, heavies events and lots of Highland dancing.

For children there are races, games, lots of stalls, a duck race and face painting.

There will be boating on the loch with many other activities and displays planned. Music will be provided by a ukulele band and Feis Fhoirt, with lots of fine food and drink from local suppliers to sample.
