Environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful will provide application and funding advice for community groups from Clackmannanshire on Thursday (July 20).

Wee County groups are invited along to Tullibody Community Garden from 10am until 1pm to discuss how their project ideas to tackle climate change might become reality through grant funding from the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund (CCF).

A presentation from Keep Scotland Beautiful will introduce the CCF and the support that they provide.

Attendees will also be able to hear from the event hosts, Tullibody Community Garden during a tour of their CCF-funded garden. Zero Waste Scotland and Home Energy Scotland will also be on hand to outline the support they offer, with information also available about support through Local Energy Scotland.

This will be followed by a Q and A session and the chance to talk through projects and learn about climate change.

The CCF is a Scottish Government grants programme managed and administered by environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful which provides funding and support for community groups to tackle climate change through communityled projects that reduce carbon emissions.

To date, the CCF has awarded grants totalling £85.8 million– supporting a range of projects, including energy efficiency improvements to community-owned buildings, home energy efficiency advice, lower carbon travel options and community growing initiatives, plus schemes that help reduce waste and move Scotland further towards a more circular economy.

Sarah Watts, Community Gardner at Tullibody Community Garden said: “With funding from the Climate Challenge Fund we’ve been able to develop a productive community garden.

“Not only are we cutting carbon emissions by growing local fruit and vegetables, we’re also encouraging local folk to grow their own and cut their food waste; get outside and gain confidence; share their knowledge or learn new skills; meet others and contribute to their community.”

The event is free and attendees are asked to register through www. keepscotlandbeautiful.org/ ccfsurgeries
