Fortnight of fun off to a flier in Callander
The top summer attraction in Callander got underway at the weekend with a musical performance and a vintage market to start a fortnight of fun.
The Callander & Trossachs Summerfest was officially kicked off by a performance by Callander Brass and followed by the Loch Lomond Ukulele Orchestra, who played at Ancaster Square on Saturday.
Local potter, James Mounter, helped people have a go at throwing a pot.
The kick of also featured Big Knitting. Liz Reece-Heal was in the square with giant knitting needles and yarn from T-shirts and onion bags that saw scored of people stopping for a go.
The two-week long event is a community-led celebration which features events activities every day for the entire two weeks including music, film, dance, kids’activities, craft workshops, vintage markets, art exhibitions, cycle rides, family fun days, sport and the traditional Highland games.
On Sunday, the vintage market took place and there will be another held this coming Sunday.
The festival of fun has also seen a herd of Heilan coos take over the town. The colourful cattle sculptures have been created by a host of local groups including Lynne Schroder of Creative in Callander, Mairi Campbell and Julie Carmichael from Deli Ecosse and Callander Meet & Make, Callander Primary School, Callander Youth Project, Callander Guides and Callander Cubs & Scouts,
Summerfest continues to hold events each day until July 30.
