GP cuts, and is The Queen a real bargain hunter?

-

The Stirling Observer Facebook page was inundated with comments from people keen to share their views on cutbacks to GP out-of-hours services.

We reported earlier this month that services were being cut due to workforce pressures. During the week out-of-hours services will continue to run at Forth Valley Hospital in Larbert, Stirling Community Hospital and at Clackmannanshire Community Healthcare Centre up until midnight. However, after midnight, the only service running will be at Larbert.

Linda Reid posted on Facebook: “Cuts, cuts and more cuts. Pity we don’t have plasters to sort them.”

Valerie Hendrie added: “All it will mean is longer waiting times at FVRH A&E.”

And Jennifer Paterson posted: “This is a vital service and awful it’s been cut back.”

Our readers also reacted to news of The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh visiting Stirling Castle.

When asked if anyone had spotted Her Majesty, Tracey Kerntiff replied: “Yes, up by the Castle and near my home in Broad Street.”

Mary Burns posted: “The Queen always loved coming to Stirling.”

And Stuart Innes reckons he spotted Her Majesty out and about searching for a bargain. He added: “She’s a big fan of the Thistles shopping centre. Sure I saw her in Poundland.”
