Show mines industrial past

-

The hard-hitting realities of life at the coal face is told in a new show which is heading to Stirling

COAL, a riveting dance theatre show, explores the darker underbelly of the mining industry, unearthing the true nature and body wrecking demands of a working class industry now almost completely forgotten.

It is based on years of research including extensive interviews with Anne Scargill, former wife of NUM president Arthur Scargill. It comes to the Macrobert on September 28 to 30. In the run up to the show, community activity days will take place in Sauchie on July 29 and Fallin on July 30. Those who attend will learn all about the show, be asked for feedback and may even be invited to get involved.

The Macrobert’s Julie Ellen said:“COAL is a particularly big one for us, because for the first time we are able to get out into the community and have contact with people who will be really interested in it. We know what we want to do, and we are keen to attract people to interact with us.”
