Number comes up for town as butlers put in an appearance

-

Bridge of Allan folks were in luck yesterday (Thursday) when they had a visit from The National Lottery.

A troop of National Lottery butlers descended on the town for the day to help locals celebrate the many Scots who had enjoyed lottery luck over the years.

The butlers - kitted out in tailcoats with white gloves and silver serving trays – took to the streets handing out lucky sunflowers and money trees while giving residents a luxury helping hand.

Local businesses, including The Royal Hotel, Jam Jar, The Allanwater Café and Leeanne Kerr Hairdressing, benefitted from the action as the butlers treated some customers by pampering them during their visit and paying for some lucky treats.

At Allanwater Papers people were also given an exclusive chance to speak directly with National Lottery winner Libby Elliot who scooped over £2.2 million on the Lotto in August 2012, seeking her‘expert’ advice on choosing numbers and top tips on what to do if you win big.

Adrian Bechelli, owner of The Allanwater Café, said: “It isn’t every day that a stranger, let alone a butler, pays for your lunch or helps you out on the street, so to say that people were surprised is an understatement. The whole town was on a high and everyone definitely felt lucky.”

To date, 141 major prizes of at least £50,000 have been banked by players in the FK postcode, including the creation of 20 Lottery millionaires.

Grants worth £2.9billion have also been distributed to 61,187 National Lottery funded projects in Scotland to date.

Over £30m is also raised every week for good causes, helping to fund small projects in every local community as well as national causes such as Olympians and Paralympians.
