Concert Dr Peter Christie will play at St Mary’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, August 20 at 3pm in the latest Third Sunday at 3 series. Dr Christie has been a church organist since the age of 14 and has been director of music at several churches in the central belt and is now at All Saints Scottish Episcopal Church in Bearsden. The hour-long concert features music from Bach, Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals, composer Robin Erskine and French fairground music written for the church. Heritage exhibition Each household in the village should have received the current edition of the Wee Vine magazine, containing a map of the Heritage Trail - Reading Room, Smiddy and Old Boatyard. The latter appears to be unknown to many residents and courtesy of Mrs Jane Wilson and Kippen Heritage, is well worthy of a visit. Over the weekend of August 19/20 from 2-5pm each day it will be open together with the Reading Room, where 60 albums of Kippen photograph­s can be viewed and the traditiona­l game of Summer Ice played. A chance also to examine history in the Old Smiddy with its ancient tools and items behind the War Memorial at the Cross. On the Sunday, teas at the Flower Show in the village hall - and take a peep as you pass at Kippen’s magnificen­t church - busy afternoons!
