All set for Killin Agricultural Show
The popular Killin and District Agricultural Society Annual Show takes place tomorrow (Saturday).
This week the organising committee have been putting the final touches to the many sections and entertainment which make the day enjoyable for the farming community, locals and visitors.
Making a welcome return are the cattle classes along with the sheep classes of Blackface, Texal, Swaledale and Cross. And there will be vintage tractors on show. The parade, led by Comrie Pipe Band, will leave Dochart Bridge at 12.30pm leading the various local clubs in fancy dress down to the Show Park.
The afternoon will feature show favourites including bonny baby, three class dog show, terrier race, Land Rover pull, children’s races, Highland dancing and sheep shearing demonstration. The McLaren Hall will again be the centre of highly competitive friendly competitions for all ages including baking, preserves, home crafts and hand craft, vegetables, flowers and the Floral Art section.
The local SWI branches compete for the Silver Salver and the junior classes make a wonderful creative display, ensuring the up and coming youngsters are well represented.
There is also a variety of stalls, mini amusement area for youngsters and refreshment marquee with snacks teas and coffee.
This year the theme for the popular scarecrow competition is Political Figures with the results announced on show day.
Evening entertainment continues in the marquee.
