Prime cattle
On Thursday, August 10, Caledonian Marts sold prime bullocks and heifers including nine young bulls, 45 cast cows and bulls.
Prime bullocks averaged 225p pkg; prime heifers 225p pkg; young bulls 195p pkg; beef cows 135p pkg; dairy cows 103p pkg; prime bullocks sold to 252p pkg for a Limousin from J and J Wylie, Knockhouse, Dunfermline, and to £1617 from the same farm.
Prime heifers sold to 250p pkg for a Limousin from W Pettigrew, Faskine, Airdrie, purchased by D Campbell and Son, Callander, and to £1597 from Brockwoodlees, Canonbie.
Young bulls sold to 215p pkg for a Limousin from W Dick and Sons, Mains of Throsk, Stirling and to £1500 for a Simmental from JC McLaren and Partners, Knox House, Crieff.

Also forward were 45 cast cows and bulls. Beef cows averaged 135p pkg selling to 175.5p pkg from C Malone, Pitcairn, Cardenden and to £1450 for the same beast.Dairy cows averaged 103p pkg selling to 132.6p pkg from W Waugh, North Bankhead, Avonbridge and to £920 from the same home.
