Win safari family pass and get a fab view of Bela the tiger

-

Blair Drummond Safari Park is home to many exotic and interesting animals, including Bela the 15-year-old Amur tiger.

Visitors to the safari park can get a great view of the tiger enclosure from a raised viewing platform and they can find out more about this beautiful animal in the‘Meet the Keeper’talk which takes place daily at 2pm.

Craig Holmes, Head Tiger Keeper at Blair Drummond, said:“There are five different species of tiger. Bela is a rare Amur tiger, a species native to the Russian Far East and in certain areas of China. An Amur tiger has a light coat, which is longer and thicker around the neck and paws in the winter to protect it from the cold Russian climate.

“Tigers are solitary predators and they catch their prey over short distances. A tiger’s bright orange, black and white striped markings are actually designed to blend in and provide camouflage against the light and shade of the forest, allowing these beautiful animals to creep up really close to their prey.”

The Stirling Observer has teamed up with Blair Drummond Safari Park again this season to offer the chance of winning a family pass every week.

For a chance to win just answer this question: What species of tiger is Bela?

Send your answers along with your name, address and contact number to: Safari Park Competition, Stirling Observer, 34 Upper Craigs, Stirling, FK8 2DW. Usual Trinity Mirror rules apply. The deadline is Monday, September 4, at 4pm.
