St Blane’s Church On Sunday, morning service will be at 10am when a speaker from Compassion UK will speak about its work across the world. Creche facilities for babies available during the morning service. Tea and coffee will be served in the hall afterwards to which all are welcome. The evening service will be the monthly all-age service which will start at 5pm with food and fellowship before worship. On the second service of the month, starting in September, the evening service at 6.30pm will have more of a prayer focus. Choir practices resume tomorrow for the new session. The final concert in the Music at Midday series for this year will be given on Saturday, September 2 by Susan Hamilton (soprano) with Kevin Duggan at the organ. Admission to the concert is free, with a retiring collection to offset the costs of the series. A light soup lunch is available in the hall afterwards. This again is by donation, all proceeds going to the work of Strahcarro­n Hospice. On Sunday, it’s back to one service only, at 10.30am. This sees the start of the new session for the Sunday school. Following the service, instead of the usual tea and coffee, a soup lunch will be served in the hall. This is the first of a new venture of Table Talks. During this lunch, the Associate Minister will give a short talk entitled “Retail Therapy! - Meeting people where they are”. On Tuesday, September 5, the Cool Music class resumes after the summer break. This is intended for children in P1–P3 and anyone in that age group is welcome to come along to the halls at 4.45pm for a free taster session, having fun playing percussion instrument­s and learning to sing. Dunblane Civic Society The first meeting after the summer break is on Monday, September 11 at 7.30pm in the Braeport Centre. A speaker from Network Rail will talk on “The Railway Electrific­ation Project”. The new programme of events consists of eight talks (including the Dunblane Lecture), spring walk/lunch, summer outing, Christmas lunch and an AGM usually with entertainm­ent so there is plenty going on. Visitors’ admission is £2.
