Bridge of Allan The annual Gents Open was held on Saturday, generously sponsored by The Rising Sun in the village.

The weather gods certainly brought the sunshine that led to some excellent scoring.

In the scratch section there were three players who returned 71s but on a countback the winner of the Rising Sun Trophy was Malcolm Gardiner (Stirling).

Second and third respective­ly were Bridge of Allan’s Stephen Brown and Neil McGregor.

In the handicap section scoring was again excellent with Graham McNair (Braehead) winning the Handicap Trophy with his net 61. Second place went to Stephen Stuart (Braehead) with net 63 and third was Tom Brodie (Bridge of Allan) on net 65.

Longest drive prize went to Craig McGann (Dunblane New) and Nearest the Pin was Alex Jones (Airdrie).

In Friday’s Senior Stableford, winner was Ian Herbert with 20 points just pipping Jim McKenzie on a countback. Third place went to Drew McRorie on 19 points.

The Gents Senior Open takes place on Friday and spaces are still available via the club website or contacting the clubhouse.
