Riverside Athletic had mixed fortunes in their two FVFDA Under 17 League matches.

On Thursday, they lost 2-1 at home to Dunblane United in a tight match where an Adam Sharp goal was their only consolation.

The GDWM man of the match went to Aaran Blackley who kept the United forwards under control. Unfortunately he sustained a broken wrist and will be out for a few weeks.

The match was sponsored by RiversideTaxis.

It was imperative that Riverside bounced back and they did so emphatically against Falkirk.

With players missing for various reasons the manager had to shuffle the pack, however players are now back from holidays and with a strong squad it’s something that Riverside can manage now with little fuss.

Goalkeeper Kyle Middleton was missing so captain Jordan Whyte went between the sticks but he wasn’t tested until the 90th minute when he scooped the ball out from under the crossbar to keep his clean sheet.

Riverside had the game won by the break when they led 6-0 with goals from Garry Laird (2), Kobe Furzer, Adam Sharp, Lewis Morrow and an own goal.

Sharp and Furzer went on claim hat-tricks and Harry Thomson also netted in an 11-0 rout. To their credit,

Falkirk maintained their discipline throughout but unfortunately had no options on the bench to call upon.

There were excellent performances throughout, however the GDWM man of the match was awarded to Furzer for his bustling play and excellent work rate not to mention scoring three goals.
