All set for 10K this weekend

- Chris Marzella

Stirling will become an athletics arena this weekend as the city’s 10k rolls in to town.

Over 1000 runners are getting ready to take their marks for the City of Stirling 10K road race 2017.

The race takes place on Sunday September 10 at Stirling Sports Village.

Organisers say that the flat and fast course is perfect for first time 10k runners, or those looking for an improved time.

Also included on the day is a 2K fun run for children.

The event is being organised by Central Athletics club with the support of Active Stirling, Run4It, Network Rail, Exmos, Life Fit Wellness, University of Stirling, Highland Spring, Robertson Group and Heat Fitness.

Suzanne Burns, Active Stirling Programme and Events Manager said:“This is an excellent opportunity for locals to take on the challenge of a 10K race alongside top athletes from all over Scotland and further afield. I’m also looking forward to seeing the 2k fun run which enables local children to try out a new sport.”

Entries for the race close Saturday September 9 and there will be full coverage of the event, including results and pictures, in next week’s Observer.
