Stirling CAB wins an award for its volunteer training
Stirling Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) has been awarded the Investing in Volunteers quality standard.
The organisation has 80 volunteers helping provide the vital advice service to people in the Stirling area.
Bureau manager Craig Anderson said:“The external Volunteer Scotland audit confirms Stirling CAB is fully compliant with current best practice in relation to how we develop, support and manage our most vital resource, the CAB volunteer.
“My thanks go to each and every CAB volunteer, the CAB voluntary board of trustees, and the CAB staff for helping achieve such a prestigious award”.
Anne Hislop, investing in volunteers manager for Scotland, said:“To become an IiV Achiever, an organisation needs to demonstrate their commitment to their volunteers and be able to evidence high quality volunteer management in practice. It needs the support of everyone from volunteers to Board members and staff.
Last year the CAB provided free, impartial and confidential advice to over 5500 people in the Stirling are. Staff and volunteers dealt with £1.1 million of debt and generated £1.4 million of income to some of the most vulnerable people in the district.
The service relies on financial support and donations. See www.stirlingcab.org.uk. By registering with easyfunding.org. uk it also receives a donation every time the supporter shops online, at no cost to them.
Stirling CAB is recruiting for its Autumn 2017 adviser training programme. Call Craig Anderson on (01786) 464773 or email craiganderson@stirlingcab. casonline.org.uk.
