Sports News Congratulations to Matthew Crossan (S4) and Amy Addison (S1) and Daniel Addison (S6) who were chosen to participate in the recent Junior Triple Crown Ten Pin Bowling competition. In addition, Daniel and his teammates won silver medals at the competition. Charity Walk Denny duo Aidan Gunn and Jed Bachen (both S6) are raising money for the Little Princess Trust who provide wigs for children being treated for cancer or other conditions like alopecia. They started off walking the West Highland Way and wild camping over five days during the summer holidays. After walking for two days Jed became ill with gastroenteritis and had to be taken to hospital for treatment. He was unable to continue the walk but both boys were determined to finish and so they started the next leg of their journey on Sunday, August 20 and they finished at Fort William on August 22. The boys have raised around £500 so far. They walked the 96 miles and camped at night and showed determination and perseverance. Highland Dancing Denny pupil Cameron Walker (S5) competed alongside more than 700 dancers at the recent Cowal Highland Gather- ing. He successfully qualified to dance in the Junior Highland Dancing Championship, achieving fifth place in the Junior World Highland Dance Championship and best male in the world in the Junior Championship. Student Awards Adam Crossley from Denny will be awarded the Dux Award for last session and Freya Settery, the Proxime Accessit Award (runner up to the dux). Both Adam and Freya are delighted to hear that their hard work and tremendous academic achievements have been recognised and will receive their awards at the Annual Awards Ceremony on Thursday, September 28 where many other talented young people will be honoured. Dennis Canavan Awards At the awards ceremony at Callendar House, Falkirk, on Monday, August 28, Jan Finlay received an award of £200 and Daniel Johnston received an award of £50 from the Dennis Canavan Scholarship. This scholarship was set up to support young people from the Falkirk area to continue in further education.
