Bridge of Allan

The club held its annual Seniors Gents Open last Friday which was once again kindly sponsored by Goldcrest Blinds.

The late summer sunshine returned for the day and led to some exceptional scores being returned. The winner of the Goldcrest Trophy for returning the lowest scratch score was William McRuvie (Shotts) who returned an impressive level par 66 to win by four shots from Bridge of Allan’s Garry Bowman. Third in the scratch section was Jim McArthur (St Andrews) who scored a 73.

In the handicap section Bridge of Allan’s Hugh Dent retuned a net 63 to win by two shots from Braehead’s Stephen Stuart. Third place went Bob Rattray (Gleneagles) with his net 67.

Winner of the longest drive was William McRuvie and the nearest the pin competition was won by Bridge of Allan player Stewart Cameron.

The penultimate Monthly Medal of the season was played on Saturday and again the excellent course conditions provided some good scoring. Winner with a net 60 was Alastair Smillie and second place went to Neil McGregor with a net 63. Stuart McLachlan was third on net 64. Neil had the consolation of returning the lowest cross score of the day with his 68.
