Adrian retain County Top Ten title

Adrian bowlers retained their Stirling County Top Ten title last Sunday with a highly convincing victory over Spittalmyr­e.

Playing on the Burnhead green Adrian came tops in all department­s winning in singles, pairs, triples and fours.

In the singles Martin McCalley survived a stiff test from David Stewart before winning 21-14. Adrian pairs David Orr and C Ross carded a 20-13 victory over Rab Kiakowski and Fraser Gray.

Barry Godfrey, Tom Cadbury and Simon Thomson put another two points on the board for Adrian with a 19-8 win over Craig Millar, Craig Robertson and Charlie Gibson.

Wrapping things up for Adrian were fours Gareth Crosbie, Mark Kennedy, Vic Malk and Stewart Getty with a resounding 25-10 win over Frank Swift, John Phimister, Alan MacIntosh and George Young. Totals: Adrian eight points plus 85, Spittalmyr­e no points plus 45. Stirling Scores from last Saturday’s triples match at Borestone were (Borestone skips first): D Kerr 5-16 J Miller; J Hunter 13-17 R Letford; S Hogg 11-11 M Graham; N Boyle 27-10 D Ross. Totals: Borestone 56-54 Stirling. Dunblane Winners of last Friday’s ladies Carewatch Triples competitio­n were Auchinairn’s Margaret McMillan, Irene Boyd and Lynn Bruce while runners up were Dumbarton’s Helen Allison, Evelyn Reenan and Michell

Sloan. Losing semi-finalists were Templeton BC and Overton and Waterloo BC.

Bannockbur­n players Helen Meldrum, Heather Dick and Margaret Jenkins won a special price for scoring a maximum nine shots.
