New market pods on show in Stirling

-

‘Market pods’ are set to pop up in communities across the Stirling area.

Two have been put into use alongside the King’s Knot and close to the layby used by tourists stopping to take pictures of Stirling Castle.

It was intended to place some of the pods in the Top of the Town but the move received a cool reception from number of community councillors there.

Convener of the finance and economy committee Margaret Brisley told the Observer: “Eight portable market huts have now been procured and are available for communities and local organisations to use.

“They are available to all groups across Stirling and one of the key objectives of the huts is to increase activity and vibrancy in Stirling City Centre and in the Mercat Cross area in particular.

“The huts have been successfully trialled at Callander Summerfest, and by Creative Stirling at King’s Knot, and are now available for booking through the economic growth service of the council.”
