Allan Park South Church is hosting one of the few Scottish dates of Garth Hewitt’s “Against the Grain” tour tomorrow (Thursday) at 7.30pm.

Garth is a well-travelled troubadour who has released nearly 40 albums throughout his career, and has performed at venues as diverse as the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and Changi Prison in Singapore.

He has visited many areas of poverty, conflict, deprivation and disaster, writing songs about individuals he has met on his travels to challenge the privileged in the West to protest against injustice.

Garth founded the human rights charity Amos Trust in 1985, believing that people should speak out for justice and affirm the dignity, rights and value of each human being.

He has written nine books and is working on his autobiography. Garth was on the board of the Greenbelt Arts Festival for 25 years, and is a patron of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

Tickets for the concert at the Dumbarton Road church are £10 at the door, or £7.50 if pre-booked from 07826 556302.
