RAGE’s bullying attacks

-

Dear Editor,

I am writing to express my concerns about the RAGE (Residents Against Greenbelt Erosion) who have been in the forefront of the Park of Keir protest .

I have great respect for everyone’s right to voice an opinion and RAGE is ensuring theirs is heard.

I live in Dunblane and work locally. I have children at school here and support the Park of Keir project.

Sadly, now I feel I can no longer air my support or, indeed, the reasons why I support such a project as I feel threatened by RAGE.

I have previously expressed support for the project and forwarded my reasons for that support to Stirling Council and I believe they have been considered.

However, now, after the recent decision of the ministers of the Scottish Government, I feel the RAGE group has taken things to a different level.

On social media, their comments are vile, threatening, personal and vulgar.

I no longer feel I could have a conversation, over a coffee, where I state my support for Park of Keir.

I now feel threatened and intimidated by this group.

This type of reaction, in any other context, would be unlawful.

The supporters of Park of Keir, I feel, have been mannerly, respectful, dignified, courteous and quiet. The RAGE group has sadly not demonstrated the same.

There will always be for and against certain issues and the supporters of both should be respected.

Bullying and personal attacks should not.
