Pipes play for Greek

-

The architect Alexander‘Greek’Thomson, whose bicentenary is being celebrated this year, will be featured in the opening concert of History Live 2017 in the Church of the Holy Rude in Stirling on September 29.

The pipe tune‘Alexander Greek Thomson’, commissioned by Balfron Heritage Group’s Jim Thomson and composed by Royal Conservatoire of Scotland student Daniel McDermott, will be played by Balfron High School student James Forrest.

Earlier in the year James was filmed playing the new tune at Thomson’s birthplace in Balfron and the Old South Manse, which was Thomson’s architectural legacy to his native village.
