Concert On Sunday, September 17, at 3pm in St Mary’s Scottish Episcopal Church, there is a concert by Alastair Savage and Friends featuring Alastair on fiddle, Iain Crawford (double bass), Eddie McGuire (flute) and Ewan Robertson (whistle and piccolo). This will be an hour-long concert focusing on music from Alastair’s unaccompan­ied fiddle album released last year. Sunday, September 24 will be Harvest Thanksgivi­ng Service with a retiring offering for Water Aid. Guild The opening meeting of the guild will be held on Monday, September 18 at 2pm in Church House when Rev Drew Barrie will speak on the theme ‘Go in Love’. All welcome. Community cafe Thank you to all those who supported the cafe at the bowling club over the past year. The last one of the season will be on Tuesday, September 19, retruning in March next year. A big thank you to the lady bowlers for their baking contributi­ons which helped to make it a success. Bingo Every Friday at 8pm in the McLintock Hall. Parish Church Sunday worship will be led by Rev Sigrid Marten at 11.15am. Tea/coffee afterwards. Prayer group meeting is on Tuesdays at 7pm. Coffee morning The WI’s annual Macmillan Coffee Morning including bake sale and raffle is on Friday, September 29, from 10am-noon in the McLintock Hall. WI news The 2017-18 season got off to a lively, colourful start at the McLintock Hall on Monday, September 11. Despite several key members still away on holiday, attendance was healthy. Business was dealt with briskly in order to devote as much time as possible to speaker, Shirley Thornley, who gave a talk on

“Colour and Style”. Shirley showed how colour can dominate or serve our appearance and demonstrat­ed how effective the right colours can be in enhancing skin tone, hair and eye colouring. Her friendly enthusiast­ic approach encouraged members to volunteer to model each of the colour types (eg. warm, cool, light etc.). Competitio­n winners were: A Colourful Scarf - 1 Sheena Marshall; 2 June Boyd; 3 Patricia Scott. Jar of Named Jelly -1 Ellen McClymont; 2 Jan Macdonald; 3 Sheena Marshall. Next month’s meeting on Monday, October 9 at 7.30pm will see committee member Joan Dymond’s husband John give an illustrate­d talk on “A Dream Come True in Malawi”. All welcome.

WI news At the first meeting of the new season, practition­er Vicky McLeod outlined how hypnothera­py works by using our own natural resources to change our response to stressful situations. Helped by her daughter Isla she then guided

Senior Citizens’ Associatio­n The new season begins on Tuesday, September 19 in the village hall with entertainm­ent by Phil Henry and friends. Meetings begin at 2pm, when there is entertainm­ent for an hour, a wee cuppa, a blether and a raffle. There is also a Christmas lunch in December, a high tea in February and an outing in May. Annual membership is £5, or visitors can pay £2 on the day. It’s a friendly wee club and a warm welcome awaits anyone over 60 who would like to join.
