Con­cert at church

The pic­turesque St Mary’s Epis­co­pal Church at Aber­foyle plays host to tra­di­tional mu­si­cians Alas­tair Sav­age and Friends on Sun­day, Septem­ber 17 at 3pm.

Fid­dler player Alas­tair will be joined by Iain Craw­ford (dou­ble bass), Ed­die McGuire (flute) and Ewan Robert­son (whis­tle and pic­colo) in an hour-long con­cert of Scot­tish mu­sic old and new.

It will fo­cus on mu­sic from Alas­tair’s un­ac­com­pa­nied fid­dle al­bum re­leased last year fea­tur­ing Niel Gow and Rab­bie Burns, James Scott Skin­ner melodies and tracks es­pe­cially ar­ranged for fid­dle and bass duo and some of Alas­tair’s own com­po­si­tions.

There will also be a strong is­land con­nec­tion to the mu­sic with a piece writ­ten by Alas­tair “Hid­den Shores” - in­spired by Lewis and Har­ris. Ed­die McGuire will also per­form his St Kilda tra­di­tional melodies.
