Top landscape photographer teams up to help hospice funds

- Kaiya Marjoribanks

Strathcarron Hospice has teamed up with an awardwinning Dunblane landscape photographer in a partnership that will see the hospice benefit from a range of fundraising ideas.

Seán Kerr has committed to supporting Strathcarron where he can by donating 20 per cent from the sale of selected prints.

He is also offering his time free of charge for photography of the hospice and its grounds and donating prints for Strathcarron to use at fundraising events and auctions.

Since becoming an official partner of Strathcarron, his generosity has already helped to cover the cost of one day of care for a patient, making a difference not only to them, but to loved ones.

Sean said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be helping Strathcarron. They do incredibly valuable work to help people in our community to live with their illness and make the most of the time they have, and to provide support to their loved ones at a time of great anxiety and grief.

“This is something very close to my heart. My mother spent the last few weeks of her life in a hospice before she passed away in 2012 and the difference the hospice made to her physical comfort and mental wellbeing was transformational. I was also so grateful for the emotional support they gave to me personally and to other members of our family at that time. It is a charity. They need charitable support to operate and I feel proud to have the opportunity to play my small part in that.”

A number of Seán’s cards and prints showcasing the beautiful Scottish landscape can be purchased at the hospice, the sale of which will help support terminally ill people and their families throughout Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth.

Claire Macdonald, business development fundraiser at Strathcarron added: “We work in partnership with a diverse range of local businesses and we’re delighted to have teamed up with Seán to provide a new platform for his works whilst raising funds to support our patients and their families.”

This October, Strathcarron has also partnered with a number of local solicitors and estate planners who are waiving their will-writing fee for the month and instead will write or update your will in return for a donation to the hospice. A free event is being held on Thursday September 28 at Stirling University Innovation Park from 5.30-7pm. There will be light refreshments, guest speakers about Strathcarron and hospice partner Cruse Wealth Management will also be in attendance with financial advice. There will be an opportunity to register for the Make a Will service. Places are limited. To book email fundraising@ strathcarronhospice.net or telephone 01324 826222.
