WIN A FAMILY TICKET TO BLAIR DRUMMOND SAFARI PARK

-

There are several different types of primates living at Blair Drummond Safari Park, including a pair of Emperor Tamarins, instantly recognisable by their small size and impressive looking moustaches.

Carolyn Booth is one of the keepers at the Safari Park responsible for looking after these characterful little monkeys.

She said:“We currently have two Emperor Tamarins at Blair Drummond Safari Park, a female called Daya and a male called Diego. The males and females of this species both have a white, curly-ended moustache.

“The Emperor Tamarin is actually named after its moustache, which is similar in shape and size to the impressive facial hair of the late German Emperor Wilhelm II.”

“Small in size, their tails are longer than their bodies and act like a fifth hand, useful for griping branches.”

Native to the southwest Amazon Basin, the Emperor Tamarin has a number of predators, including wild cats, dogs, snakes and birds of prey. However, their biggest threat is man, and populations are in rapid decline due to deforestation and habitat loss.

The Stirling Observer has teamed up with Blair Drummond Safari Park again this season to offer the chance of winning a family pass every week.

For a chance to win just answer this question: How many Emperor Tamarin Monkeys are there are the Safari Park?

Send your answers along with your name, address and contact number to: Safari Park Competition, Stirling Observer, 34 Upper Craigs, Stirling, FK8 2DW. Usual Trinity Mirror rules apply. The deadline is Monday, September 25, at 4pm.
