Proud to be taking a place on the board
Stirling Observer –
Editor John Rowbotham said:“As the local paper for the area, we are proud to have been part of the fabric of Stirling for the best part of 200 years.
“Stirling Monopoly will undoubtedly be played not just here but across the world and we are excited to be immortalised along with so many iconic landmarks and worthy features of Stirling on the board.
“As well as being placed on the square traditionally reserved for the so-called home of journalism – Fleet Street – our ever popular Butcher Boy competition has its own Community Chest card.” Blair Drummond Safari Park –
Marketing manager Liz Gunn said:“We are delighted to have been selected to appear on this new edition of the world’s favourite board game and to be chosen as one of Stirling’s top family attractions.
“Blair Drummond Safari Park occupies one of the yellow sites on the board, which suits us perfectly – we are great value for money, easy to reach and a perfect place for regular family visits.
“The park’s mascots, Safari Sam and Gary the Giraffe, were invited to celebrate the launch of Stirling Monopoly at the Castle this morning.
“We’re hoping they hurry back with a game for us to play – there are some cheeky monkeys here who can’t wait to get their hands on a copy.” Smith Art Gallery and Museum –
Director Elspeth King pointed out that Oswald, the museum’s cat, was represented by the cat playing piece while an image drawn by Stirling-based artist Owain Kirby is also included.
She said:“We’ve been so busy selling the game we haven’t had a chance to play it ourselves but it looks a lot of Stirling-centred fun.
“We are really pleased that the Stirling Smith features on the Stirling Monopoly board, thanks to the assistance of the Friends of the Smith, who continue to keep the Smith on the map.
“Their secretary, Kathie Costello represented the Smith at the Castle launch event.” Stirling Castle –
Eleanor Muir, visitor experience manager, said both the castle and the Wallace Monument were priceless. But she added: “We are the most expensive square on the board, not just because this is a castle but because it is your castle. We are very proud to have hosted the launch here.” Birds and Bees, Causewayhead –
Owners Gary and Sally McConnell said:“It is great to see all these landmarks and businesses coming together in this way.
“This is going to be worth its weight in gold and you feel‘immortalised’being part of the board.
“It was great to get the chance to participate.
“It is not something we ever thought as children when we first played the game we would be involved in.”
