Autumn Fayre Alva Parish Church is holding an autumn fayre on Saturday, October 28 in the church hall from 11am-2pm in aid of church funds. Alva Pensioners A bingo tea will be held tonight (Wednesday), eyes down at 7.30pm. The next dance is on Saturday, October 28 with music by Raymond Carse. Cost is £5 including a light supper.

Miners Welfare Social Club Bingo on Mondays and Wednesdays 8pm. Community council Meets in Bannockbur­n Community Centre on the first Thursday of each month at 7pm. Stirling Christadel­phian Church Bible hour at the church at 40 Main Street is held on Sunday from 2.30pm with Sunday school at the same time. Ladywell Church Coffee morning tomorrow (Thursday) is from 10am till noon. Saturday, October 14 is the 60th Anniversar­y Dance will be held featuring live music from The Grand Boys. Parish Church Sunday worship takes place at 11am with Jonathan Clipston. Sunday school meets at the same time and there will be a creche during the service. St Saviour’s Episcopal Church Eu- charist services are on Sundays at 8am and 10am sung Eucharist with choir. Health Centre The annual flu vaccinatio­n clinics will be on Tuesday, October 17 and Thursday, October 19. Please contact the practice as soon as possible to book your appointmen­t. The centre encourages everyone eligible for the vaccinatio­n to attend as there will be limited appointmen­ts following this to offer the vaccine. The flu vaccine is available to everyone over 65 years or under 65 if you are pregnant; an unpaid carer or have a condition such as asthma, diabetes or any other long-term illness. Clinic dates have also been arranged for children aged two-five years old who are not attending school. Please contact the health centre to arrange an appointmen­t on 01786 833210 (option 5). If you are under 65 years and do not come into any of the above categories but wish the vaccinatio­n you should enquire at your local pharmacy. In line with the Scottish Government programme, if you are aged 70-79 (excluding 75 year olds as at September 2, 2017) you are entitled to the shingles vaccinatio­n which can be given at the same time as your flu vaccinatio­n.
