Cricket honour for Gavin
Gavin Anderson is this year’s winner of the prestigious Willie Little Trophy at Stirling County Cricket Club.
The trophy is the club’s top honour and was donated to Stirling County in memory of former editor Willie Little and presented for the first time in 1975.
Gavin has been a member of the club since he was a youngster and has risen through the ranks to become a much-valued 1st XI player and former captain.
At the beginning of the summer he took on the role of head of cricket at New Williamfield, overseeing coaching a selection from the youths upwards.
He also adopted a leading position in the club’s Sunday development XI which saw a number of youngsters make their senior debut in 2017. takesplaceatThePEAKnext –Scotland, England,Russia,Korea,Switzerland, week.Eightteams CzechRepublic,Finlandand three-timeswinnersNorway–will takepartfromOctober17to20.Six ofthecountriesarerankedinthe world’stop10forthe2018 WinterParalympicsin SouthKorea.
Stirling Albion boss Dave Mackay is relishing the prospect of a return to action in the second round of the William Hill Scottish Cup on Saturday.
The Binos had no game at the weekend but welcome Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale to Forthbank as they begin their Scottish Cup campaign against the East of Scotland League champions. Albion have reached the fourth round in each of the last four years since suffering a shock third-round exit to Highland League Deveronvale in 2012/13 and Mackay hopes they can again put together a decent run in the competition. Stirling’s best achievement in the Scottish Cup is the quarter-finals, a stage they have reached five times but not since 1989/90 when they lost to Clydebank in a replay. Mackay
