Top violinist bringing her show to Dollar

- Donald Morton

World famous violinist Tasmin Little is to perform The Naked Violin in Dollar on Saturday, October 14 as part of the Music in Dollar season.

Tasmin has firmly established herself as one of today’s leading international violinists and has performed on every continent in some of the most prestigious venues of the world including Carnegie Hall, Philharmonie Berlin, Vienna Konzerthaus, the Barbican Centre and the Royal Albert Hall.

Her appearances include those with Berliner Philharmoniker, London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National, and all the BBC Orchestras.

Her recording of the Elgar Violin Concerto with Sir Andrew Davis and the Royal National Scottish Orchestra garnered outstanding critical acclaim and was awarded the Critic’s Choice Award in the 2011 Classic BRIT Awards.

Tasmin is performing her project The Naked Violin aimed at breaking down barriers to classical music by performing in communities where music is rarely heard.

Julian Reeves from Music in Dollar said: “We have been bringing high-quality musicians to play for the communities in and around Dollar for over 50 years so it’s appropriate that Tasmin should agree to perform The Naked Violin for us.

“Tasmin is probably the most famous musician we’ve brought to Dollar for many years so we’re hoping for a capacity audience.”

Tickets for the concert - which will be held in the Gibson Hall, Dollar Academy, at 7.30pm - are available via the Music in Dollar website at www.musicindollar.org. uk, priced just £15.

Admission is free for accompanied children and anyone in full-time education.
