Community benefit As the neighbouri­ng Kingsburn Windfarm is now operationa­l, Kippen will soon receive community benefit money. It will be received by Kippen Community Trust and grant awards will be decided by an independen­t panel set up by the trust. Local organisati­ons with a good idea for a project or activity should apply to Margaret or Jon for a grant applicatio­n form. Church Sunday service at 11.15am will be led by Rev Ellen Larson Davidson. Guild Members and friends are invited to Norrieston Guild, Thornhill, on Wednesday, November 1, at 2pm in Norrieston Church Hall. David Pickett will talk about the work of Scottish Natural Heritage on Flanders Moss. The Guild has also been invited to Fintry Guild’s meeting in the Menzies Hall, Main Street. on Monday, November 6, at 7.30pm when a refugee will speak on life in their own country and their journey to Scotland. Bonfire The 1st Carse of Stirling Cubs are repeating their successful event of last year with a bonfire and fireworks on Kippen Sports Field on Tuesday, November 7, at 6pm. All ages welcome, as are donations in the appeal box in McNicoll’s Stores. SWI Tasty bites from the splendid demonstrat­ion of traybakes, etc, from celebrity cooks Helen and Dianne were enjoyed at the October meeting in the Reading Room last week. Mora welcomed everyone and dealt with business. Effie and Margery received points in the toffee apple competitio­n and support was sought for the Rural tearoom at the vintage market in the hall on Sunday. Thanks Music in Hospitals and Care received £840 from the cafe at Myreton, open with the colourful Nomad’s Tent sellers exhibition. Hakhad Craft also received £350. Johnnie and Kirsty Cuthbert thanked everyone who attended, helped and contribute­d. Reading Room The jumble sale last Saturday morning raised £600 for Reading Room funds. The management committee thanked everyone who attended and helped on the day.
