Driver dies after car crashes into garden

Now it’s four serious smashes inside a week

- Chris Marzella

A 26-year- old man has been killed following a car crash in Blairlogie.

The man died at the scene following the accident at around 9.15pm on Wednesday on the A91, 50 metres west of the junction with Manor Loan.

The silver MG ZR car was travelling east when it left the road, striking the wall of a property before hitting a tree — just yards from a house.

The 26-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 27-year-old man, who was a passenger, sustained minor injuries. He was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for treatment before being released.

The road remained closed for seven hours while police conducted inquiries at the scene.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses following the tragedy and anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to come forward.

Sergeant David Ross from the Road Policing

Unit at Stirling said: “Tragically this collision has resulted in a young man’s death and our thoughts are with his family at this time.

“We are still trying to establish why this car left the road and anyone who was on the A91 at the time and saw what happened should contact police immediately.

“In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to our inquiries is also urged to get in touch.”

Those with information can contact the RPU at Stirling via the 101 number and quote the incident number 4163 of November 1.

The tragic smash is the fourth road collision in the Stirling area in less than a week.

On Friday (October 27) an 80-year old woman suffered serious injuries, including broken bones, after being hit by a car at the junction between Morrison Drive and Hillpark Crescent, near to Ladywell Church, in Bannockburn.

The following day a 78- year- old woman was struck by a bus in Stirling city centre. The woman was hit at the pedestrian crossing on Murray Place at around 12pm where she suffered a laceration to her head.

Almost at the same time on Saturday a toddler was hit by a van in Springfield Terrace, Dunblane. The two-year old boy had been standing at the side of the road with his mother, close to the Tesco store, when he ran out into the road and was struck by the side of a passing van. He escaped with just minor injuries.

These incidents happened on the same weekend that a 75 year- old woman died following a road collision in Alloa.
