Network Rail will today (Wednesday) meet with community council members to discuss issues surrounding the upcoming electrification works at Dunblane Station.
Boundary treatments and the positioning of a twin-track cantilever are the two main matters community councillors are keen to raise with rail representatives.
Works at the railway station will be ongoing in the coming months as part of the StirlingDunblane-Alloa (SDA) electrification project.
And a meeting of Dunblane Community Council last week heard that there were concerns about the proposed positioning of a twin-track cantilever at the station.
There are expected to be four masts erected at the station to support overhead power lines used by the trains.
However the meeting was told that the position of one of these could negatively impact on the view of the listed Victoria Halls building from the station.
Representatives from the rail giant said that they would be happy to schedule a further meeting with community council members to discuss this issue, along with any other concerns they might have about the upcoming works.
And Terence O’Byrne, chair of the community council, said: “We’re keen to ensure that Network Rail take a sympathetic approach to things at the station. The two main things we want to bring up will be the boundary treatments and the positioning of the masts.
“We’re pleased that they are prepared to listen to us as the station is a very important part of the town, in a conservation area.”
The electrification of the line, with improved journey times to and from Glasgow and Edinburgh, is scheduled for completion in December of next year.
