Panto tickets selling fast
Festive fun hits Fintry next week when the village’s thespians take to the stage for the annual pantomime.
This year Fintry Amateur Dramatic Society will be performing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, written by Alan McHugh, who has penned a number of top Christmas shows including pantos featuring Elaine C Smith.
“We are really excited about this year’s show after the sell-out success of last year,” said director David Smith. “Our huge cast of 28 come from all the villages around and have been working for two months on great routines. The costumes are once again stunning and supported by very creative sets and props.”
In the show, Prince Andrew loves Snow White, but so does Muddles, the numpty son of “Sweaty” Betty Blumenthal, the royal cook. Meanwhile, Snow White’s wicked stepmother, Sadista (who spends a lot of time chatting with her own reflection), wants to kill her stepdaughter so she can hang on to her crown and bag Prince Andrew herself.
Confusion and skulduggery ensue but help is at hand in the form of seven short miners and a fairy godmother.
“We have added a lot of new expensive lighting equipment and it has never looked so good,” said David.
“The music is just brilliant under the directorship of Jim Lightbody. There are some really clever and witty parodies created for this show along with a very moving and beautiful duet by Heather Stephenson and Josh Fraser as Snow White and Prince Andrew of Fintry.”
Fintry is renowned for its high quality productions and acting, having taken both Scottish and British top awards in amateur drama.
A couple of performances are almost sold out and tickets are available online at www.fintrydrama. org.uk and from Fintry Sports Club, Killearn Pharmacy and Balfron Library. Shows are at 7.30pm in the Menzies Hall, Fintry from November 30-December 2 and from December 7-9.
Additional matinees on both Saturdays at 2pm.
